Marcus Bell Signs with Petroleros de Camargo

bell marcusKings Center Marcus Bell is continuing to make moves in his professional career as he has signed a contract with the Petroleros de Camargo of the professional basketball league in Mexico, El Basquetbol en Chihuahua.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to go play for the Petroleros ball club. said Bell who just finished practice. I get the chance to go back to Mexico, which is where I played when I started my basketball career.

Bell grew up in Modesto, California, about an hour drive from Sacramento. He attended Enochs High School where he starred on the Varsity Basketball Team. He led Enochs to a 21-8 record and averaged 20.7 PPG, 12.3 RPG, 3.6 BPG and 2.5 SPG his senior seasons. He scored 20 points or more 16 times and led the team with 18 double-doubles.

Bell spent time playing for several schools building his name and reputation. He played for the Idaho Vandals and Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, CA before eventually signing his first professional basketball contract to play in Mexico. He also spent time in Canada as well playing in the NBL for

To Lower Columbia College played college ball for University of Idaho for the Vandals for Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, CA. He has played in several countries including Mexico and Canada in the NBL for the Island Storm.

While only spending a short time here with the San Diego Kings, Bell said he is grateful to play with such a great organization and loves the way the team is playing.

“It’s a blessing to play with such a great group of guys. I’m learning a lot and I’m taking this time as a learning experience and to keep improving. I’m going to miss playing in the states because I’m playing against Americans all the time and Ill be close to home.

Even though Bell will be further from home, he chuckled when asked what its like to be able to travel as a pro player.

“I basically get to do what I want, Bell laughed. “I know what I bring to the table. I’m going into the season with Petroleros de Camargo hungry and committed to winning just like I am here.”

Before the interview was over, we asked Bell what it would take to get to the next level in basketball.

“Stay focused, set your goals and do your best to achieve them. You have to stay locked in if you ever want to make in this game.”

Bell will finish out the December schedule for the Kings before reporting to Petroleros de Camargo in January.
